In 2007, Rod Ferguson initiated Sunday Jazz (or Jazz Vespers) at KCKF. Following the lead of churches like St. Peter’s Lutheran in New York City and St. Andrew’s Wesley United in Vancouver, Sunday Jazz brings together fine Jazz musicians with reflection, prayer, and scripture reading within the Christian tradition.
The vespers is intended as an (occasional) alternative expression of worship for those who are members of the church and followers of Jesus – his word and way – but is also intended to provide a place of reflection for those who do not necessarily identify with Christian faith but may be open to its wisdom. We look forward to continuing this tradition of Sunday Jazz in the months and years ahead.
